Shift statuses
Every day in the schedule is marked with a status. Statuses come in two kinds: system statuses that exist in every organization, and custom statuses that you create yourself.
System statuses
System statuses are built into Smengo and cannot be edited. In the status panel they are labelled system. These cover the basic day types: working, day off, vacation, sick leave, late, and similar.
Custom statuses
You can create as many custom statuses as you need. Open the Statuses panel at the top of the schedule and click Add status. Fill in:
- Name - what users will see in the cell editor.
- Code - a unique identifier (letters and numbers only; cannot be changed after creation).
- Color - pick from presets or enter a custom HEX.
- Counts as present - the key setting (see below).
- Shift hours - optional default start and end times for this status.
Counts as present
The Counts as present toggle decides whether an employee is included in the "On shift" row and in coverage calculations. When it is off, the person does not count toward the day's headcount. This is how coverage works: days off, vacation, and sick leave typically have the toggle off; working shifts have it on.
Editing and deleting custom statuses
Click the pencil icon next to a status to change its name, color, or other settings. You can only delete a status if it is not used in any cell of the schedule.
