Team motivation

Recognition nobody has to fill in

Punctuality streaks compute themselves — from check-ins in Telegram. Thanking a colleague is one button. Managers see who carries the team — without walls of shame or spreadsheets.

  • Zero manual input: streaks grow from check-ins the team already makes
  • Thanks from the bot or the employee card — delivered to Telegram
  • Off by default — enabled with a single switch

How it works

The journey of one streak and one thank-you

Not a single new action “for the system”: everything derives from the check-ins the team already makes in the bot.

  1. 109:58

    Arrived on time

The employee taps “Clock in” in the Telegram bot — as usual. That is the only contribution a streak needs.

  2. 218:05

    The streak grew

The “🔥 My streak” button: current streak, best over 180 days and the day it started.

  3. 315:40

    Thanks in one button

“👏 Say thanks”: a colleague from your department, a couple of words — or no text at all.

  4. 415:41

    Delivered to Telegram

The only incoming message initiated by a person, not the system. No broadcast spam.

  5. 508:00

    Recognition in the briefing

The manager sees who has been thanked since the start of the month — right in the morning briefing.

  6. 61st

    Monthly recap

The previous month's summary goes to managers only. Nothing is sent to employees.

Not a single new duty. Employees fill in no forms and collect no points: streaks come from check-ins, and thanks is one button. Motivation here is a by-product of data, not a second job.

Who sees what

Personal for the employee, aggregated for the manager

Visibility boundaries are built into the product, not into promises.

Employee

in the Telegram bot

  • Their own streak: current, best over 180 days and since when
  • The latest thanks addressed to them
  • A button to thank a colleague from their department
  • The incoming “you've been thanked” — and no other messages

Manager

on the dashboard and in the briefing

  • The Motivation widget: team streaks — no zeros, no anti-ratings
  • Fresh thanks: who thanked whom
  • The Recognition block in the morning briefing
  • The monthly recap on the 1st, automatically

No wall of shame. There is deliberately no public leaderboard: a lateness rating punishes people with kids and commutes. A streak is personal, and a thank-you is visible to the recipient and their manager — not the whole company.

Mechanics

Four parts — all built on data you already have

Streaks, thanks, recognition and the master switch. None of it asks the team for new habits.

Streaks compute themselves — and never punish vacations

A streak is consecutive days a person arrived on time. The data already exists: bot check-ins and the organization's lateness settings.

  • Vacation, sick leave and days off do not break a streak
  • The lateness grace period is respected — same as in the schedule
  • The last 180 days count — old slips burn away

Thanks that arrives in seconds

A colleague from your department, a couple of words — or no text at all. The recipient gets a personal Telegram message; the manager sees it in the widget.

  • Up to 5 thanks per 24 hours — anti-gaming enforced in the database
  • One per colleague per 24 hours
  • A thank-you cannot be edited or deleted — like words said out loud

Managers learn who carries the team

Every morning the briefing shows who has been thanked since the month started. On the 1st — the previous month's recap. Names and counters only: the texts stay private.

  • The Recognition block in the morning briefing
  • The monthly recap goes to managers only
  • Thank-you texts never appear in summaries

Off until you decide otherwise

Motivation is off by default — nothing appears until the owner enables it in organization settings.

  • Streaks, thanks and the recap toggle independently
  • Turning it off hides buttons and widgets but deletes nothing
  • No new automatic messages to employees

Employee of the month vs quiet recognition

Annual certificates don't work in teams where a month is already an era.

The best are picked by gut feeling — usually the same people
Streaks are computed from check-ins — the same rules for everyone
A public ranking demotivates the bottom half of the list
A streak is personal; managers see a recap without anti-ratings
A thank-you drowns in the work chat within an hour
Thanks lands personally in Telegram and stays on the card
Monthly results are compiled by hand before the meeting
The recap reaches the manager by itself — on the 1st
Zero manual input
No wall of shame

Recognition as a by-product of data The check-ins are already there. Smengo simply surfaces the good hidden inside them.

FAQ

Frequent questions about motivation

No. There is no public ranking: a streak is visible to the employee and their manager. Anti-ratings and “worst of” lists are deliberately absent.

A missed planned shift or a late arrival beyond the grace period breaks it. Vacation, sick leave and days off don't touch the streak — they are simply skipped.

The caps live in the database: at most 5 thanks per 24 hours per sender and at most one to the same colleague. They cannot be bypassed via the app or the bot.

No. The only new incoming message is “you've been thanked”, and a person initiates it — not the system. The monthly recap goes to managers only.

The recipient and their manager. There is no public feed, and briefings and recaps contain names and counters only — no texts.

The bot buttons and the widgets disappear; the data stays. Turn it back on and everything continues from the same place.

No. If the bot is already linked for check-ins, the new buttons appear after the /start command. Nothing else is needed.
