AI credits
Smengo's AI features (assistant, schedule generator, briefings, knowledge base) are part of the Pilot module and run on AI credits. The module grants a monthly quota, and you can top up your balance separately once it runs out.
How many credits per month
The quota scales with your team: 5 AI credits per employee per month when the Pilot module is on (but no fewer than 10 for a very small organization). For example, a team of 20 gets 100 credits. Without the Pilot module, AI features are unavailable.
The quota renews automatically every month. Unused credits don't carry over to the next month.
How credits are spent
Different AI features cost different amounts of credits:
- A question to the AI assistant - about 1 credit
- Generating a schedule with the button - free (only plain-language edits spend credits)
- Editing a schedule draft with a text instruction - about 5 credits
- Explaining a schedule draft - about 1 credit
- A briefing - about 1 credit
- An action proposal from the assistant (for example, placing a shift) - about 1 credit
- Explaining timesheet discrepancies - about 1 credit (viewing an already generated explanation again is free)
- A question about organization documents ("From documents" mode) - about 1 credit (no credit is charged if the documents don't contain an answer; employee questions in the Telegram bot are free)
- Parsing a candidate's resume - 1 credit (no credit is charged if the text doesn't look like a resume or couldn't be read)
- Generating an onboarding board - 1 credit (no credit is charged if the position couldn't be recognized or AI failed; "Regenerate" costs another credit)
- Generating a quiz for a training material - 1 credit (no credit is charged if the material's text is too thin to build a quiz or AI failed; "Regenerate" costs another credit)
Credits are only charged for successful requests.
When credits run out
Once the monthly quota is used up, AI features pause until the next month or until you top up your balance. The rest of Smengo - the schedule, employees, reports - keeps working without limits.
Where to see your usage
The Settings → Billing page has an "AI credits this month" tile showing your remaining balance and usage by feature, so you can see where credits are going.
Topping up
The "Top up" button lets you buy extra credits in packs (100 / 500 / 2000) beyond your monthly quota. Pack purchases and payment setup are coming in an upcoming update.
