Departments

Departments are the primary way to group employees in the schedule. The matrix rows are organized by department: all employees in one department first, then the next. You cannot add an employee without assigning a department.

Create a department

In the schedule, click the + Department button in the toolbar. The "Create department" dialog opens - enter a name and save. Creating departments requires the Manage departments permission (manage_departments).

The department name appears in the group header within the schedule grid and in the department filter. Keep names short and clear: "Kitchen", "Hall", "Bar", "Warehouse".

Rename or delete a department

Click the department name in the toolbar - a menu appears with Rename and Delete options.

Deleting a department does not delete its employees - they remain in the system and move to the "No department" group. Reassign them to a new department via the edit form.

Grouping in the schedule

By default, the schedule groups employees by department. Each department is highlighted with a color and occupies its own block of rows. The Group by departments toggle in the view settings lets you temporarily turn off grouping and show all employees as a flat list.

Department filter

The toolbar in both the schedule and the "Team" section has an All departments filter. Select a specific department to show only its employees. This is especially useful for managers responsible for a single department.
